Four Hackney men, one of them suffering serious burns, have been taken to hospital after a flat fire in Stamford Hill today.
The London Fire Brigade was called at 2.33pm after a flat on the second floor of Wicklow House on the Stamford Hill estate in Hackney caught fire.
A spokesperson from the Fire Brigade told ELL: “The blaze badly damaged a flat on the second floor of a five storey block. Four men were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.”
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters dealt with the fife, which was under control by 4.21pm today (May 18).
Fire crews from Hornsey, Leyton, Tottenham and Walthamstow fire stations attended the incident.
Hatzola Emergency Medical Service, London Ambulance Service, London’s Air Ambulance and Hackney Metropolitan Police Services were also called to the scene.

Two of the men were allegedly trapped and had to jump out of the flat.

There are small road closures within the estate and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
